Spirit, Soul, Body

1 Thessalonians 5:23 Now may the God of Peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Every human being is created by God in His Image. God is a three-part being and so are we. God is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Three persons of the same God. We know this as the Trinity. Likewise, we have been created in three parts: Spirit, soul, and body.

Our spirit is God-conscious. This is the part of us that communicates with God. We relate to God directly through our spirit. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so, no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. (1 Corinthians 2:10-12)

Our soul is self-conscious. Our soul is all about us. It is selfish. It is concerned about me, me, me and speaks of what I want, what I will do, what I won’t do, what I feel, I, I, I. Our soul contains our mind, will, and emotions. It causes us to feel a certain way because of outside circumstances. It is the part of us that makes decisions and choices for our lives. Our soul contains our free will. Everyone lives a soul-led life prior to salvation because their life is all about them.

The Word of God speaks of those who are soul-led. But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the Righteous Judgment of God, who will render to each one according to his deeds. Eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek. (Romans 2:5-9)

Our Body is world-conscious. Through our five senses, we relate to the world around us which influences our soul and our behavior. This is the easiest part to understand because it’s natural. We can see our body and we understand our five senses and how we react and respond to the world and our environment.

God created us all with a spirit, soul, and body. All three are intended to serve Him but we are unable to do so until we are saved and born again. Every person on earth, no matter how sinful or horrible they may be, is able to be saved and born again. This is God’s Plan for all people. The only way to accomplish this is by believing in God’s Remedy for mankind's problem, which is sin. Sin is our problem. The Blood of Jesus Christ is the Remedy. It is God’s Will for all of us to be totally Redeemed, Justified, and Sanctified. Now may the God of Peace Himself Sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thessalonians 5:23)

God can…...….turn the tide……..in your spirit, soul, and body!

Thank you Jesus!         Doreen
