Spiritual Poison

Mark 11:25 And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in Heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

For the past few days we have been discussing the demonic spirit of bitterness. This is one of Satan’s deadliest weapons against us. Bitterness is poison to our spirit and it will fester in the core of our being and do great harm. As the Scriptures say, bitterness can rob one of their Salvation. Looking diligently lest any man fail of the Grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled. (Hebrews 12:15)

Bitterness is a root in the spirit of people. It is the offspring of unforgiveness and it will defile the human spirit and result in physical sickness and disease. If allowed to grow, bitterness will overtake the entire spiritual root system of an individual. It is an infestation of evil and it will eventually cause total destruction; spirit, soul and body.

There are many people living in this condition and it will eventually lead to deadly mental and physical illness and disease. Unforgiveness and bitterness causes one to continually dwell on the matter. It overtakes the mind and the person finds themselves mentally reliving a situation over and over again. Eventually it becomes overwhelming and they can’t get it out of their thoughts.

Unforgiveness begins by hurt and abuse. When we are cheated, stolen from, abused or mistreated in any way, the door to our spirit is open to unforgiveness. No matter the circumstances, if we don’t forgive the perpetrator, we are only hurting ourselves. Unforgiveness on our part does not hurt the other person in any way. It only hurts us and it REALLY does hurt us because it robs us of our Peace and contentment. We cannot live with bitterness and be content at the same time. It will destroy all contentment and leave us in a state of stress and anxiety.

Harboring unforgiveness and bitterness in our hearts (no matter the circumstances) will eventually lead to our physical death and perhaps the loss of our salvation. Needless to say, unforgiveness and bitterness is extremely dangerous and deadly.

It has been said, “Unforgiveness is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.” This is a true statement. Do what Jesus taught us to do: And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in Heaven may forgive you your trespasses. (Mark 11:25)

The simple fact of the matter is this: We cannot change other people. Nor can we make them apologize or make restitution to us. We are only in control of ourselves and we CAN choose to forgive. Yes, forgiveness is a choice we must make. The person or people who have hurt us are in God’s Hands. He will handle them. He is fair and just and as the Word says, Vengeance is mine, says the Lord. I will repay. (Hebrews 10:30)

Don’t destroy your own life over something you have no control. Give it to the Lord God Almighty. Trust Him. He will handle the situation. When you let go, He will take hold!

When you forgive God will……….turn the tide……..in your life.

No bitterness,         Doreen
