Acts 5:17 Then the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with indignation, and laid their hands on the Apostles and put them in the common prison.

 

The Sadducees had the Apostles arrested because they were ministering healing and deliverance to the people in the Name of Jesus. Both the Pharisees and the Sadducees represent the demonic spirit of religion. They were the Law of the land. They hated Jesus and His followers because He fulfilled the Law. They were afraid He would strip them of their power and position.

 

The spirit of religion has always been the enemy of the true Church of Jesus Christ and it remains so today. The Pope would be a good example of this in that the world believes this man to be the head of the Church and yet he is exactly the opposite. In fact, the current Pope is the enemy of the Church and is extremely demonic. However, the Catholic Church has been taught to obey every word the Pope speaks even over the Word of God. Fortunately, a lot of Catholics today have turned from this but many still hold fast to it.

 

The spirit of religion is also prevalent today in those denominations that have quenched the moving and operation of the Holy Spirit of God. The people at the head of these denominations have made rules for all those sitting in churches that bear their names. Unfortunately, the people have been lied to for decades and have not been allowed to see the Power of the Holy Spirit at work in regard to Miracles, Healing, Prophecy, etc.

 

While these denominational leaders do not have the authority to put Spirit-filled believers in prison, they have tried to shut them up in the Christian community through their rules, regulations, and outright lies. This is a part of the persecution the Church suffers from today but we stand on the mighty Word of God! Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4)

 

Once a person experiences the Power and Presence of the Holy Spirit and witnesses Miracles, Signs, and Wonders for themselves, no religious leader can take that from them or convince them that it is not real. This is what happened in the days of the First Church and this is still happening in the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ today.

 

The moving and operation of the Holy Spirit draws people and they are changed forever. No matter what anyone says, we know what we have seen. We know what the Lord has done in our lives. We know and believe in the Power of the Holy Spirit of God and no one can convince us otherwise.
