1 Corinthians 10:23 All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.
For the past two days, we have been comparing the situation in the 5th Chapter of the Book of Acts with what is happening currently in America. Yesterday, it became clear that we the people of the United States of America must choose to obey God or obey men.
The government is supposed to make laws that protect the people and maintain peace in the community. This is why officers of the law are called peace officers. The Word of God tells us to obey the laws of the land and pay our taxes. (Romans 13)
However, just because a governing body of people has decided that something is not against the law, does not make it right according to the Word of God. In America today, abortion is not illegal but it is not acceptable according to God’s Word. Likewise, same-sex marriage is legal in some states but the Word of God calls it an abomination.
What has happened is that we have people sitting in high offices that are not believers and have no respect for the Word of God. This is why they have made such decisions for the people and this is why the Christian is responsible to know what the Word of God teaches and obey the Word of God over the word of men. As the Apostle Paul said, All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify. (1 Corinthians 10:23)
The United States of America was founded on Principles set forth in the Word of God. Our Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Declaration of Independence are all based on God’s Word. The laws of our land originally coincided with the Word of God as well and as long as that was the case, America was the leader of the free world because Christianity is the source of Freedom and Liberty. Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1)
The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is not a building or a temple built of stone or lumber. The Church is the people. Likewise, America is the people. We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
America was founded to create a land where people could live in the freedom that Jesus died on the Cross of Calvary for them to have. God set the United States of America apart from the rest of the world. The Gospel of Christ has been the greatest export of America for more than 200 years. For years we kept the Word of God strong but as of late we have slipped in our duties. We the people must once again pick up the Word of God and live our lives according to its Teachings.
It’s up to us, we the people. Each one of us is part of we the people. It’s our responsibility to stand strong for the Word of God upon which this nation was founded. The enemy is fighting hard but the Power of God is far greater than he or any of his demons. Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4) Let us stand for the freedom and liberty Jesus died on the Cross of Calvary for us to have.
The Apostle Paul said, Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. (1 Corinthians 16:13) To those who have ears, let them hear.
God is about to…..…….turn the tide
Standing strong, Doreen
