Acts 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from Heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the House where they were sitting.
Picture this: A large group of people (approximately 120) all gathered together waiting for something called the Promise of the Father. They didn’t know what it was or would be. They didn’t know when it would come. All they knew was what Jesus had told them and they ALL believed it to be true. Therefore, they went to the Temple and they waited.
Because it was the Day of Pentecost, we can assume they were in the Temple. Their group was rather large so they would have had to be in a pretty big place. The Temple would be the perfect place for them to be that day.
There they were. All together. Hanging on the Words of Jesus. Waiting in expectation for something to happen but they didn’t know what it would be. And they waited, and waited, and waited. Can you imagine a group of 120 Christians doing that today. Unfortunately, we have a difficult time waiting a few minutes for the Holy Spirit to move let alone days. These people waited out of obedience to the Words of Jesus. He said, go there and wait, so they went there and waited.
Then, in Verse 2 something happened and it happened SUDDENLY! And suddenly there came a sound from Heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the House where they were sitting. What happened that day was extraordinary and would change the whole world forever. It is known to be the second most cataclysmic event in human history to date. The Crucifixion of Christ being the first and greatest as it brought the Redemption of mankind on earth.
God sent His Son to Redeem mankind. He accomplished that on the Cross of Calvary. God then sent His Holy Spirit to Empower mankind. He accomplished that on the Day of Pentecost. Both events changed the world and both happened SUDDENLY.
Everything God does, He does suddenly. One moment we are lost in sin and SUDDENLY we are Saved and Redeemed. The moment we are Baptized in the Holy Spirit we are SUDDENLY empowered by the Holy Spirit of God.
Every “Suddenly” of God pertains to us today. Suddenly you feel the Presence of God. Suddenly you believe. Suddenly you are Saved. Suddenly you are Baptized in the Holy Spirit. Suddenly you feel the Call of God on your life. Suddenly, God changes things. That’s the way He works.
Suddenly the Earth was created. Suddenly there was Light. Suddenly there was man on the earth. Suddenly there was woman. Suddenly He gave Moses the Ten Commandments. Suddenly the doors to the Arc closed. Suddenly the Messiah came. Every Miracle He performed was a Suddenly experience in someone’s life. Suddenly He was Crucified. Suddenly He was Resurrected. Suddenly He Ascended into Heaven. On the Day of Pentecost, SUDDENLY the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ was born and empowered.
Jesus is coming back for His Bride (the Church). It will happen SUDDENLY. Are you ready?
Suddenly He will……….turn the tide
Too many suddenly experiences to count. So grateful for them all, Doreen
