1 Corinthians 3:16 Do you not know that you are the Temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
The Apostle Paul asks an extremely important question in the above Scripture. Do you not know that you are the Temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? I ask you the very same question today: Don’t you know that you are the Church? Do you understand that your body is the Temple of God where the Holy Spirit lives?
If believers could get a handle on this FACT the church would take on a whole new look. The building in which you meet once or twice a week is NOT the Temple of God. It is a mere structure built of wood, brick, and mortar. That’s all it is. It may be beautiful inside and out but it’s nothing more than a beautiful, well-built structure.
The Holy Spirit does not live in buildings. He lives in people. People who believe in the Finished Work of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary. The Holy Spirit has always dwelled in the place of Sacrifice. In Old Testament times, that was the Temple. The people had to go to the Temple and make their Sacrifice to come into the Presence of God. They believed in the shed blood sacrifice for the forgiveness of their sins. This is no longer the case!
Since Jesus went to the Cross and shed His Precious Blood for the sins of the world, every single person who believes in His Sacrifice for their sins becomes the Temple of God where the Holy Spirit dwells all the time. He goes with us everywhere we go. He dwells within us to teach us, guide us, and counsel our every word and action IF we allow Him to.
The BIG word in the previous sentence is “IF.” The Holy Spirit will never force Himself upon us. If you are truly saved and born again, He dwells inside you. He wants to rule and reign in your life but you must welcome Him to do so. We do this by surrendering our lives to Him. This takes faith. We must trust that He knows more than we do and He will never lead us astray as those in the world do.
The Holy Spirit dwells within you. Don’t treat Him like an unwanted houseguest and go about your life ignoring Him. He is there because God loves you so much, He wants to help you. This is why the Holy Spirit is called our Helper. There is nothing He cannot help you with.
So, whatever it is that you are struggling with today, simply take it to God in prayer through your Savior, Jesus Christ, who is your intercessor. God will then dispatch the Holy Spirit (who is already inside you) to work on your behalf according to God’s Plan and Purpose for your life.
We have to trust that God knows best. We don’t know everything. We have no idea what lies ahead. God does. He knows everything. If you believe that, then live your life accordingly. Place your faith in the shed Blood of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary and trust God to do what is best for you. Trust and obey for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus, than to trust and obey. Such a simple song and yet it will change your whole world if you will live by its message. Hallelujah!
God wants to……….turn the tide……….in your life. It’s up to you.
Fully trusting Him, Doreen
