That Special Day

Acts 2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the Temple and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart.

As we reach the conclusion of the 2nd Chapter of the Book of Acts, we find what the daily lifestyle of the Christians was like in those days. It is amazingly different from what we find today.

They met daily and ate together; every day. Sometimes they met in the Temple and sometimes they met in their houses. Since the number of believers had grown tremendously, no one had a house big enough for them all to meet, but they still met together and shared a meal.

The key to the success and growth of the Early Church was that they were unified in their faith and in one accord. That means they were in agreement, stood together, and helped each other. It doesn’t take a big, fancy building to be a church. The people are the Church. Know you not that you are the Temple of God? (1 Corinthians 3:16)

You are the Church. It doesn’t matter where you are, you are still the Temple of God. This is a place where the modern Christian has drifted far off track. Most people believe you can only be saved in a certain building on a particular day. That is the farthest thing from the truth.

A person can be saved anywhere at any time. When the Holy Spirit draws a person to repentance and they submit to Him in faith in Christ Crucified, they are saved. It doesn’t matter where they are or who is with them. They can be all alone!

I remember when this happened to me. I was about 5 or 6 years old. I was outside in our garden all by myself. All of a sudden a powerful feeling came all over me. I had no idea what it was. I wasn’t afraid and I knew it was something far greater than I was or anyone else for that matter. All I can say is that in that moment, I knew God was real. I could feel His Presence and I knew He loved me. There wasn’t a lot of love in my home so I needed to be loved by someone and God showed His Love for me that day outside in the garden.

I didn’t share this experience with anyone because I didn’t think they would understand but in my heart, I knew without a shadow of a doubt that God was real. This was the beginning of my personal relationship with God. It was an amazing day in the life of a little girl who had no one to tell her about Jesus. The Holy Spirit told me and I heard Him loud and clear. He spoke to my heart with no words and I believed! Hallelujah!

Believe and God will……….turn the tide………..in your life.

I never shall forget that day,         Doreen
