The Breath Of God

John 20:22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive ye the Holy Spirit.”

What happened in the Temple on the Day of Pentecost, changed the world forever. We read in the Second Chapter of the Book of Acts: And suddenly there came a sound from Heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the House where they were setting. (Acts 2:2) The mighty wind they all felt that day was the Holy Spirit coming upon them.

The Greek word for wind is pnoe. It means respiration, breeze, or breath. I believe that what the people felt that day was the literal “Breath of God.” In the Book of Genesis we read where God breathed life into Adam. And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the Breath of Life; and man became a living being. (Genesis 2:7)

After His Resurrection, Jesus was with the Apostles and He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive ye the Holy Spirit.”

The Apostle Paul wrote that the Word of God is “God breathed.” All Scripture is given by Inspiration of God, and is profitable for Doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in Righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) This literally means that the Word of God was breathed out by God.

Everything that God breathed brought forth life. The Breath of God on the Day of Pentecost which came in the form of a mighty rushing wind, was no exception. This brought forth life to the Church. The Holy Spirit is the Life of the Church. This is why when we attend a church that does not welcome the Holy Spirit it feels lifeless; spiritually dead. But, when we attend a Holy Spirit-filled Service we feel the Power and Life of God and we witness mighty Miracles and people being changed.

People out in the world are lost and hurting. They need God in their lives. They need to be Saved, born-again, and filled with the Holy Spirit. They need to feel the “Breath of God” come upon them and when they do, they will never be the same again! Hallelujah!

The Breath of God will bring Life and Power to the lost and dying world. This is what the Church needs today. There are far too many spiritually dead churches. Seek the Power of the Holy Spirit. Reach out to Jesus and ask Him to fill you with His Holy Spirit. When He does, you will have Life and Power like you have never experienced before. Jesus is speaking to you. He is breathing on you and He is saying: “Receive ye the Holy Spirit.”

The Breath of God will….….turn the tide
