The Breath Of Life

Galatians 6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation.

The Apostle Paul refers to a new creation many times in his letters to the Churches. Obviously, if there is a “new” creation, there has to be a previous creation. We cannot understand the new creation if we don’t understand the original creation.

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul. (Genesis 2:7) God created man out of moist dust which was clay.

We read in John 1:1-3 that Jesus is the Creator. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

In Genesis 1:1 we read In the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth. To fully understand this, we must take a look at the Hebrew word for God which is Elohim. This is a plural word. The “him” at the end makes it plural just as adding an “s” to the end of a word makes it plural in English.

We know that God is Triune in form. He consists of Three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. One God; Three Persons. Therefore, all Three Persons of the Godhead were present to create the Heavens and the earth.

In Genesis 2:7, the words the Lord God refers to the second person of the Godhead: Jesus. Jesus formed man out of the dust of the earth. Then He put His lips next to the man’s lips and He breathed the breath of life into him. When Jesus breathed into the man created of clay, it became a living, breathing human being. Jesus did this! He created the first living, breathing man. This was the first or previous creation.

Jesus creates the new creation as well. Because of the fall of man, we are all born sinners and destined to be miserable here on earth and spend eternity in Hell. That’s why God sent Jesus to be sacrificed on the Cross of Calvary! He did it to save His most precious creation, mankind.

When we believe this and place our faith in what He accomplished on the Cross, we become a new creation. It is as if Jesus breathed the breath of life into us once again! When this happens, we are changed from the person we once were into a living, breathing creature re-created to worship and serve God just like Adam was in the beginning. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Jesus went to the Cross to……….turn the tide……….in your life and make you a new creation.

Thank you Jesus!         Doreen
