Luke 17:26-30 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.
If you have been watching the news, you know that much of the world is on fire with wildfires. Some time back, a friend of mine posted on facebook some photos of her daughters at a beautiful lake. They were water skiing and having a great time with their families. The background was clouded with heavy smoke. They reported that ash was falling all around them as they skied on the lake. At night the glow of the flames can be seen from behind the mountains and the smoke is billowing everywhere.
This is a picture of the world today. There is fire all around us. The world is burning up with evil and sin. Satan and his fallen angels are running rampant attacking as many people as they can. And yet, the people are living their lives as though nothing is wrong.
Jesus told us this is the way it would be in the Last Days. Just as it was in the days of Noah and Lot, so will it be in the Last Days before the Rapture (or Resurrection) of the Bride of Christ. We are living in those days.
It’s hard to see the forest for the trees but take a step back and observe the world and times in which we are living. Look at it from God’s point of view. What does God see? What must He be thinking? That is a sobering thought indeed.
The Word of God tells us that the Last Days will be just like the days of Noah and Lot. People will be eating and drinking. They will marry and be giving in marriage. They will buy and sell and plant their fields. They will build homes, communities, cities, and nations. Evil will be everywhere and the people will continue on as usual until one day ……………….everything will change in an instant; in the twinkling of an eye, nothing in world will be the same.
Exactly as the doors of the Ark closed and the fire swept down on Sodom and Gomorrah, it will be too late. Many will be killed and spend eternity in Hell, or left behind to suffer the darkness of the Great Tribulation. Few were heeding the Word of the Lord then, and few are heeding it now.
The world we live in is a shambles and a disgrace. How many are REALLY living for God? How many are truly living a life of repentance and seeking the Will of God in their lives every day? On the other hand, how many are laughing and watering skiing on the lake as the fire rages all around them?
God will only stand for so much. Then He will……..turn the tide
