The Greatest Promise

John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My Name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Jesus promised that our Heavenly Father would send us a Helper. He identified this Helper as the Holy Spirit. He is with us to teach us, guide us, and counsel us in all of our ways. It is the Holy Spirit that causes us to remember all that Jesus said and did while He was here on earth.

The Holy Spirit is the Promise Jesus spoke about in Acts 1:4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which”, He said, “you have heard from Me.”

This refers directly back to the statement made by Jesus when He told them that the Father will be sending them the Helper, the Holy Spirit. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My Name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. (John 14:26)

When Jesus walked this earth, He was the Teacher. The people called Him Rabbi which means Teacher. He was their Guide, Counselor, Teacher, Healer, Comforter, and Deliverer. He was their everything! Now, since Jesus has gone to be with the Father, we have the Holy Spirit to be with us. He is the fulfillment of the Promise Jesus made to send us a Helper. Just as Jesus helped the people while He was here on earth, the Holy Spirit is to be our Helper now. He is God’s replacement for Jesus in the lives of believers today.

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are of One Mind. They will never contradict each other. Therefore, life today as a born-again Christian is our opportunity to abide with Christ just like the Disciples did. They lived with Jesus for three years. Everywhere He went, they went. They witnessed countless Miracles, Signs, and Wonders because they were with Him.

The Disciples never left His side because they didn’t want to. They literally lived with Jesus. They had free will. They could have left and gone back to their previous life at any time. Jesus never forced any of them to stay with Him. The same is true today. We can abide in Christ by allowing the Holy Spirit to Guide, Counsel, and Teach us. This is what it means to live a “Spirit-filled life” and when we choose this life, we will be Blessed beyond words just like the Disciples were when they chose to abide with Jesus.

To abide in Christ today is to maintain faith in His Finished Work on the Cross and be constantly led by the Holy Spirit. The Apostle Paul said it like this: For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. (Romans 8:5)

Jesus made a Promise to send the Holy Spirit. God kept that Promise. We can have that Promise if we choose to. When we choose to accept the Promise of God (the Holy Spirit) our lives will be like that of the Disciples who actually lived with Jesus, sat under His Teaching, and witnessed everything He did.

If this is what you want, you can have it. Jesus said so. how much more will your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him! (Luke 11:13)

The Holy Spirit will……….turn the tide……..in this world.

Thank you Lord for this Promise!         Doreen
