Acts 22:14-16 Then he said, “The God of our fathers has chosen you that you should know His Will, and see the JUST ONE, and hear the Voice of His Mouth. For you will be His witness to all men of what you have seen and heard. And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the Name of the Lord.

Our study of the many Names/Titles of Jesus brings us today to an important Title given to Jesus by Stephen and Ananias, both of which are found in the Book of Acts.

In the 6th and 7th Chapters of Acts, we read about Stephen being called before the Council. He had been falsely accused of blasphemy which led to him to be questioned. When asked about this, Stephen defended his position with a long dissertation which has come to be known as Stephen’s Address. (Acts 7: 1-53)

Stephen’s Address was a History lesson beginning with Abraham and ending with Jesus. The Council members knew he spoke the truth but his closing remarks cost him his life. You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you. Which of the Prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who foretold the coming of the Just One, of whom you now have become the betrayers and murderers, who have received the law by the direction of Angels and have not kept it. (Acts 7:51-53)

With these words, Stephen provoked the Council to anger! He did two things. He rebuked them and referred to Jesus as the JUST ONE. These words of truth cost Stephen his life. They removed him from the city and publicly stoned him to death. (Acts 7:54-59)

The other Biblical account of Jesus being referred to as the JUST ONE is found in the 22nd Chapter of the Book of Acts. It happened after Paul’s life-changing conversion experience on the Road to Damascus. God caused him to be blind and instructed him to go to the home of Ananias where he would regain his sight and be Prophesied over by Ananias.

Paul (then Saul) went to the home of Ananias. This obedient man of God spoke to Paul and he regained his sight. Then he said, “The God of our fathers has chosen you that you should know His Will, and see the JUST ONE, and hear the Voice of His Mouth. For you will be His witness to all men of what you have seen and heard. And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the Name of the Lord.” (Acts 22:14-16)

When Paul (then Saul) met the JUST ONE on the Road to Damascus, his life was changed forever. He went from being the enemy of Jesus and the killer of Christians to one of the most Powerful, devoted Apostles to ever live. The Words of Prophecy spoken by Ananias to Paul set him on a lifelong journey of Evangelism. His sight had been restored and every sin he had ever committed was forgiven! He had called on the Name of the Lord. He had personally met the JUST ONE!

The old man (Saul) was dead! The new man (Paul) had been born. A new man with a new purpose full of zeal and hope. A man who would touch the world with the Gospel of Christ and who continues to touch the world through his words recorded in the New Testament today.

How is this possible? It is all made possible because he personally met the JUST ONE! Have you met the JUST ONE? He is waiting for you to reach out to Him. He wants to meet you. He wants to transform your life. Are you ready to die so you can live? Today is the day of Salvation. Reach out to Jesus; He’s reaching out to you. Hallelujah!

The JUST ONE stands ready to……….turn the tide……….in your life!

I praise God for knowing the JUST ONE!         Doreen
