Ephesians 5:8 For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.

Paul, and his Message, was severely rejected by the Jews in Corinth. This wasn’t just a mild showing of uninterest but rather almost a riot. They kicked him out of the synagogue but Paul did not quit. He simply moved on and he didn’t have to move far.

He became acquainted with a man named Justus who lived right next door to the synagogue. Justus was a believer in Jesus and invited Paul to use his home as a place to conduct services. And he departed from there and entered the house of a certain man named Justus, one who worshiped God, whose house was next door to the synagogue. (Acts 18:7)

In the very next sentence, we see a major turn of events. Paul had just been removed from the synagogue and in didn’t take long for the Holy Spirit to move on the heart of a man who could influence many more. This man was the Chief Ruler of the synagogue! Then Crispus, the Chief Ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his household. (Acts 18:8)

This man, Crispus, heard Paul teach and preach the Message of the Gospel of Christ and the Holy Spirit drew him in. When he believed, his whole household believed too. This led to many coming to hear the Message of the Cross preached which resulted in many giving their hearts to the Lord too! And many of the Corinthians, hearing, believed and were baptized. (Acts 18:8)

The City of Corinth was changing. What had once been a hotbed of sin and darkness was becoming a place of Righteousness because of the Light of Jesus shining throughout its borders. A great awakening rushed throughout Corinth and it would not be the same!

The Grace of God brings about tremendous change! Only God can do this. Only He can turn the darkness into Light, unrighteousness into Righteousness, and sin into Salvation. Only faith in Christ can save one from eternity in Hell to the Blessed Assurance of spending eternity in Heaven!

This is the testimony of every born-again believer. We were once all living in darkness but we are now walking in the Light of the Lord. As Paul would later write to the Ephesians For at one time you were darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord. (Ephesians 5:8)

The Light of Jesus will………..turn the tide……….in this world!
