The Lord Answered

Matthew 7:7-8 Ask and it shall be given to you; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

For the past few days, we have been discussing the life of Cornelius who was a God-fearing Gentile man that sought after God in every way he knew how. He studied the Word of God and he did what he could to observe the Jewish rites and traditions without being a Jew. In addition, Cornelius gave to the poor, prayed, and set an example for his family.

In Verse 3 of the 10th Chapter of the Book of Acts, we read that God spoke directly to Cornelius in a Vision. He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an Angel of God coming into him, and saying, Cornelius. Cornelius responded to the Vision he saw. And when he looked upon him, he was afraid, and said, what is it, Lord? To this question, God answered. Your prayers and your alms are come up for a memorial before God. (Acts 10:4)

The Gentile, Cornelius, had sought after God. When he saw the Vision, he knew God had a message for him. Although he was afraid, he did not run away in fear. Instead, he asked the Lord what He had to say and the Lord answered!

Although Cornelius was a Gentile, God still heard his prayers and He recognized his seeking. We don’t know what Cornelius knew about Jesus but we do know he sought after God. Jesus made a Promise about this and Cornelius would be the first Gentile to benefit from this Promise. Ask and it shall be given to you; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8)

Cornelius had knocked on God’s Door for a long time. He did not tire of knocking and seeking and that day, God answered. Your prayers and your alms are come up for a memorial before God. And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter. He lodges with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: He shall tell you what you ought to do. (Acts 10:4-6)

Anyone who sincerely seeks after God will find Him. Their nationality or gender makes to difference. What they have done in their past will not hinder the Presence and Response of God when they seek after Him in true Repentance.

The Call on the lost is and always has been Repentance. Seek after the Lord in true repentance and He will hear and answer your prayer.

Ask, seek, and knock. God will answer and ……….turn the tide……….in your life.

Thank you Lord,         Doreen
