Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has Anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor, He has sent Me to heal the broken hearted, to preach Deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.

 

The word “healed” means to be cured and made whole; restored. This was the Ministry of Jesus on earth and this was the Ministry of the First Church we read of in the New Testament. Jesus came to Earth as a man and died on the Cross of Calvary to bring about total “Healing” in the lives of people.

 

Jesus declared to the people what His Ministry consisted of: The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has Anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor, He has sent Me to heal the broken hearted, to preach Deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. (Luke 4:18)

 

Although His Ministry has come to be known as, Salvation, Healing, and Deliverance, in the Word of God it is all referred to as Healing. When a person is Saved their soul and spirit is Healed and restored to the condition God originally intended. That is, to be close to God and live forever with Him.

 

A physical Healing is simply that, the curing of a sickness or disease which is the restoration of the physical body. Deliverance is the inner Healing of one’s spirit by the casting out of demonic spirits thereby setting the person free from evil harassment and torment. Although the three are individual, they all go hand in hand and are all necessary if the person is to be made whole; body, soul and spirit.

 

People live their lives ridden with demonic influence. It’s amazing how much torment a person can live with and still function in their daily life. It is unfortunate that most Ministers of the Gospel of Christ never touch on the subject of Spiritual Warfare or minister Deliverance to their congregation. That’s why the Church today is filled with hurting, suffering, tormented, angry, bitter people who are barely able to function on a daily basis.

 

These people are so oppressed by the enemy, they respond by going into seclusion, committing suicide or lashing out and hurting others. The Ministry of Healing and Deliverance is extremely important and must be exercised in the Body of Christ. Jesus said, I saw Satan fall like lightning from Heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19)

 

Satan has already been defeated. God cast him out of Heaven and he fell like a lightning bolt. When Jesus went to the Cross and said “It is finished.” all power Satan and his demonic spirits have over believers was stopped! He has no legal right in your life if you are saved and born-again. YOU have the right and the responsibility to rebuke him and cast him out of your life! This is spiritual Freedom and it can be yours today if you will exercise the Power Christ died for you to have.
