The New Covenant

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female, for you all one in Christ Jesus.

The life and times of the Gentile, Cornelius, should be of great interest to everyone because he was the first non-Jew God chose to be saved. God did this through a visitation by an Angel. Luke records what happened in the 10th Chapter of the Book of Acts.

There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment, a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always. About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an Angel of God coming in and saying to him, “Cornelius!” And when he observed him he was afraid, and said, “What is it, Lord?” So he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God. Now send men to Joppa and send for Simon whose surname is Peter. He is lodging with Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea. He will tell you what you must do.” And when the Angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier from among those who waited on him continually. So when he had explained all these things to them, he sent them to Joppa. (Acts 10:1-8)

Although Jesus had been Crucified, Buried, Resurrected, and Ascended into Heaven some eight years prior, the New Covenant had not begun to unfold. That is, to accept Gentiles as God’s people. Up to this time, all believers were converted, Jews. God was orchestrating the implementation of the New Covenant and this Gentile man named Cornelius would play a huge part!

Those who were believers in Christ were still living like Jews at that time. While they absolutely believed that Jesus was their Messiah, they were still abiding by many of the ordinances of the Law. After all, that’s all they knew! This is how God’s people had always lived and they did not know anything about how to live their lives for God in the New Covenant.

However, all that would soon change as God would unfold the Truth of His New Covenant to the whole world. For the first time in the history of mankind, EVERYONE would be included! This was the New Covenant and it was for all people! As Paul would later write to the Galatians: There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female, for you all one in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:28)

The New Covenant is the Gospel of Christ and it changed the entire spiritual landscape of the whole world. It continues to do the same thing today.

The New Covenant will still…..…….turn the tide……….in this world.

Thank God for the New Covenant!         Doreen
