Mark 9:23 If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.
In the 9th Chapter of Mark, we read about a man who took his son to Jesus for Healing and Deliverance. A great crowd of people had gathered around Jesus to see Him and hear what He had to say. All the Disciples were there as well as some of the Scribes.
Then a man came to Jesus and asked Him to please Heal his son who was possessed by a dumb spirit. This demonic spirit had totally possessed the boy. The Scripture tells us that in addition to binding the boy’s vocal cords and closing his ears, it would throw the boy into the fire and try to kill him. Master, I have brought to You my son, which has a dumb spirit. And wherever he takes him, he tears him: and he foams, and gnashes his teeth and pines away: and I spoke to Your Disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not. (Mark 9:17-18)
Jesus told the man to bring the boy to Him. As soon as the demon in the boy saw Jesus, he threw the boy to the ground and he began to foam at the mouth. Jesus asked the father how long the boy had suffered with this. The father answered of a child. And oftentimes it casts him into the fire or into the waters to try to destroy him but if You can do anything, have compassion on us, and help us. (Mark 9: 21-22)
The father of the child had lost all hope. That’s why he brought his son to Jesus. He was his last hope. With that, Jesus said If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes. (Mark 9:23)
The father’s answer is one that should resonate with all of us. And straightway the father of the child cried out and said with tears, Lord I believe; help my unbelief. (Mark 9:24)
The people came running to see what Jesus would do with this boy. They knew the situation and wanted to see a Miracle, and they did! He rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, You dumb and deaf spirit, I charge you, come out of him, and enter no more into him. And the spirit cried and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, he is dead. But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose. (Mark 9:25-27)
Many people do not believe a child can be possessed by a demon. This is obviously not true. A child can be possessed but we have been given the authority by Jesus to rebuke these demons and cast them out. Behold, I give you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19)
Jesus came to……….turn the tide……….in this world.
Hallelujah! Doreen
