The Seven Feasts

Acts 2:1 And when the Day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

The Day of Pentecost, mentioned here by Luke, has to do with the Feast of Pentecost which is one of the Seven Great Feasts instituted by God in the Old Testament. The word “Pentecost” means fifty. The Feast of Pentecost occurred fifty days after the Feast of First Fruits.

None of the Seven Great Feasts are pertinent to believers today but when we study them, it becomes obvious that they all reveal a part of the Life and Ministry of Christ. It’s an interesting study that takes a considerable amount of time, but in short, the following is a recap of that study.

THE FEAST OF UNLEAVENED BREAD is a picture of Jesus’ sinless, human body totally without blemish.

THE FEAST OF PASSOVER is a representation of the Death of Christ on the Cross of Calvary.

THE FEAST OF FIRST FRUITS is the picture of the Resurrection of Christ from the dead.

THE FEAST OF PENTECOST depicts Jesus as the Baptizer of the Holy Spirit.

THE FEAST OF TRUMPETS tells of the Second Coming of Christ

THE FEAST OF ATONEMENT (Great Day of Atonement) pictures the acceptance of Christ by the Jews.

THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES refers to the time when Jesus reigns as King during the Kingdom Age.

Obviously, all Seven Greats Feasts were Prophecies of what was to come. The first four have come to pass and the last three will take place at some point in the future. It is not a coincidence that there are seven Feasts. Seven is God’s number for perfect completion. Just as there are seven days of the week and seven notes on the musical scale, the seventh indicates completion. The Seven Feasts are in the exact order of Jesus Life and Ministry.

Here we see just a glimpse of the fact that the entire Bible is the Story of Jesus, the Son of God, the Savior of the World, and the soon coming King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Many people don’t like to study the Old Testament but when we do, we find Jesus EVERYWHERE! It’s amazing! We serve an amazing God who loves us all so much He sent His Only Son to die for us. What a Mighty God we serve!

On the timeline of the Feasts, we are living between the Feast of Pentecost and the Feast of Trumpets.

It won’t be long now. God will soon sound the Trump and……….turn the tide

Exciting times,         Doreen
