John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
John 14:6 is one of the most quoted Scriptures in all the Bible. I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Jesus made this statement in the Upper Room, after the Last Supper. In this statement He declared Himself to be the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE. The Name/Title for our subject today is the TRUTH.
While there are many things in this world that are true, there is only one TRUTH and that is the Word of God. In Psalms 119:160 we read, The entirety of Your Word is Truth, and every one of Your Righteous Judgments endures forever.
When Jesus prayed for His followers, He said, Sanctify them by the Truth; Your Word is Truth. (John 17:17) Jesus didn’t just know the Truth or bring the Truth. He IS the TRUTH! If the Word of God is the ONLY TRUTH, John 1:14 proves that Jesus IS the TRUTH because He is the Word manifest in the Person of Jesus Christ. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
The Word of God (the TRUTH) has been in existence from the beginning. In John 1:1-3 we read that the Word is and always has been a Person. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. In this Passage of Scripture, we find the Word spoken of as He; a Person.
This is very important because a few short Verses later we read, And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. (John 1:14) The Word has always been a person but became a Human being when Jesus was born. He was not just an ordinary baby but the ONLY BEGOTTEN SON. When we studied this Name/Title for Jesus we learned that the word Only Begotten Son sets Jesus apart as the unique and only Son of God the Father. The word begotten is derived from the Greed monogenes which has two meanings. First of all, it pertains to someone who is “one of a kind with a specific, unique relationship.” The second meaning pertains to the “only one of its kind or class; unique in every way” or “only child.”
With that said, Jesus is the Word of God which is the ONLY TRUTH to ever exist. He and He alone is worthy to be named the TRUTH! When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we have the TRUTH (Jesus) in our hearts and the Holy Spirit of God dwelling inside us as our Teacher, Guide, and Counselor. What more could anyone ask for?
Jesus, the TRUTH, came to……...….turn the tide……..in this world.
