Joel 2:28-29 And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.

 

Approximately 800 years before the Birth of Christ, the Holy Spirit visited the Prophet Joel and gave to him a Message. In that Message, we find these words: And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. (Joel 2:28-29)

 

We have been studying the First Church from the Book of Acts. We have found mighty Works of the Holy Spirit; both life and death. As we have stated so many times before, prior to the Crucifixion of Christ, the Holy Spirit of God did not reside in people. He visited certain people at specific times and gave to them a vision, dream, or message to relate to God’s people. These people are called Prophets of God because they brought forth Prophecies as given to them by the Holy Spirit of God.

 

The people of the First Church performed Miracles, Signs, and Wonders by the Power of the Holy Spirit just as Jesus did when He Ministered here on earth. It was due to His Finished Work on the Cross that we have the Holy Spirit of God dwelling inside us today. If Jesus hadn’t gone to the Cross, we would not know the Holy Spirit as we do now. Therefore, our faith must always be anchored in the Cross of Christ. It was there that Jesus paid the price for us to have Salvation, Sanctification, and be able to operated in the Spiritual Gifts listed in 1 Corinthians 12:4-11. There are diversities of Gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of Ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the Word of Wisdom through the Spirit, to another the Word of Knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another Gifts of Healings by the same Spirit, to another the Working of Miracles, to another Prophecy, to another Discerning of Spirits, to another different Kinds of Tongues, to another the Interpretation of Tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

 

These are the Gifts we see in operation in the Book of Acts and they should all still be in operation in the Church today. The Prophet Joel said And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. (Joel 2:28-29)

 

The Scripture says that this will happen “afterward………….in those days.” When is that? When is afterward? When is, in those days? Other Scriptures say, these things will happen in the Last Days. When is the Last Days? My friends, the Last Days began the Day Jesus Ascended into Heaven. From that day until now, believers have waited for the Lord to return. We are still waiting some 2,000 years later but wait we will and with great expectation of His return for us.

 

We are living in the Last Days. How much longer will this dispensation of time continue? We don’t know. It is not our business to know. God does not tell us. In fact, He said, But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the Angels of Heaven, but My Father only. (Matthew 24:36)

 

Until that Day we are to place our faith in the Finished Work of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary and operate in the Spiritual Gifts we have been given to build the Kingdom of God. The Spirit of God is upon you because you believe in the Finished Work of Christ on the Cross. Live and operate in that faith and you will see visions, dream dreams, prophesy, and see Miracles, Signs, and Wonders. Hallelujah!
