Through The Eyes Of Luke

John 14:12 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the Works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.

In our study of the Book of Acts and it’s pattern for the Church, we are quickly drawn back to the Sixth Chapter of Romans. The purpose of the Church was (and is) to continue the Ministry of Jesus. The Person of the Holy Spirit has been sent by God the Father to assist the Church in this Ministry. Since the Church consists of people who are believers in the Finished Work of Jesus, the Holy Spirit works through these people to minister to others.

We find in the Sixth Chapter of Romans that the key problem and stumbling block in all people is sin because we are all born with the sin nature. Therefore, everyone is a sinner and the only answer is the Finished Work of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary. Paul wrote: What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that Grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? (Romans 6:1-2)

Jesus possessed all the Spiritual Gifts and had incredible Discernment of Spirits. He could see the demonic attack on people and He addressed it with Mercy and Power to both Heal and Deliver the person. Everyone Jesus ministered to, was Healed and/or Delivered. Nothing Satan attacked the people with was beyond the Power of the Ministry of Jesus Christ.

Yes, physical illness and disease are SOMETIMES the result of sin in our lives. I emphasize the word sometimes because we know that this is not always the case. However, we also know that when people are delivered from sin, certain physical ailments will leave simultaneously. This is not a coincidence. It is the Power of God to bring about the process of Sanctification to His children.

Luke, the author of the Book of Luke and the Book of Acts wrote: He laid His Hands on every one of them and healed them. (Luke 4:40) Remember, Luke was a physician. Just imagine his amazement at the Power of Jesus to Heal people.

I’m sure Luke became very much aware of his inadequacy as a physician while traveling with Jesus! We see the amazement on the part of doctors today when they witness a Miracle Healing. Try to put yourself in Luke’s shoes as he watched Jesus heal every single person of every illness and disease including leprosy!

Luke was not one of the Twelve Disciples but he was definitely a believer and a follower of Jesus. He had to be and how do you think he felt when Jesus said, Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the Works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.

Jesus was about to pass on this great Power of the Holy Spirit to all of them and Luke was a part of it all! The Book of Acts is Luke’s account of what happened as the first Church continued the Ministry of Jesus by the Power of the Holy Spirit!

Oh yes! God can absolutely……….turn the tide……..in the Church.

Get ready! This is going to get good!          Doreen
