True Deliverance

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become.

Yesterday, we revealed the most common false teaching in the Church today. This lie is meant to convince believers that there is no need for them to repent of their sins. Just as the serpent convinced Eve that God did not mean what He said, he is still trying to convince believers of the same thing today. I say to you: Read the Word of God for yourself!

The Apostle Paul wrote the majority of the New Testament and his writings are letters to BELIEVERS in various churches throughout the region. In every single letter, he addresses their sin and instructs them to “walk” in Righteousness. Obviously, this would indicate that they were not walking in Righteousness and needed to repent.

Repent has multiple meanings. It means to confess your wrongdoing to God. It is the admission that you are wrong and God is right. It is to ask God to forgive you of your sins. It is ALSO to turn from your sins, not toward another sin, but turn toward God and His Ways. This is why Jesus said, Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33)

Many people will confess a sin and ask God to forgive them and deliver them from it but instead of turning to God, they turn to another sin. An example of this would be someone who repents of smoking and seeks deliverance. They may very well stop smoking but they take up gluttony and gain a lot of weight. They have not truly repented and been delivered, they have merely exchanged one sin for another.

True Repentance will result in Deliverance and when we receive true Deliverance we no longer have the desire to do that sin. God will not redirect you from one sin to another. He will totally Deliver you from that sin and you will be completely set free from it. That thing (whatever it may be) will no longer have any hold on you.

The Apostle Paul wrote about this. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become. (2 Corinthians 5:17) All believers have an “old man” and a “new man.” The old man is who we used to be prior to Salvation. The old man did all those things the new man no longer does. True Salvation brings about real change in people. If there is no change, there is no Salvation.

Jesus said you can identify a believer by their fruit which is what they do and what they produce. You shall know them by their fruits. (Matthew 7:16) The old man produced rotten fruit. The new man produces good fruit because he has been grafted into the Vine which is Christ. I am the Vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. (Joh15:5)

Repentance will……….turn the tide……….and bring about Deliverance.
