John 6:26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, You seek me, not because you saw the miracles, but because you did eat of the loaves, and were filled.
These Words of Jesus are fitting for the modern church. We seek Jesus for provision and that’s about it. We come to Jesus with a laundry list of wants and needs but rarely praise Him for what He has already done. The Church today resembles a spoiled child at Christmas who opens a gift and throws it down only to open another.
We serve a God who is able to do absolutely anything and He wants to provide for His children. All He asks is our devotion and surrender to Him. The First Commandment could very well be the most difficult to keep. Thou shall have no other gods before Me.
Many believe this ONLY means that we are not to bow down before statues or graven images of other gods, but it means far more than that. It speaks of anything that we put before God in our lives. ANYTHING! Nothing is to be excluded. This means our family, career, money, position, prestige, home, personal property.....anything. Nothing is to be more important in our lives than our love and devotion to God.
When we think about this on a national level, we can easily see where America has broken the First Commandment in just about every way possible. Americans need to hear the Words Jesus spoke to the Disciples, You seek me, not because you saw the miracles, but because you did eat of the loaves, and were filled.
Americans have ceased to seek God for His Power to do what only He can do. In fact, many Americans have turned their backs on God completely and renounced His existence. Some have taken up other gods; false gods. Many people who profess to be Christians do no more than give God lip service, if that. They attend a church for an hour or two a week and call it good. It’s not good and at some point, God will lift the Veil of Protection and Provision. This is what we have witnessed in America.
We the people, must take a stand for God and devote our lives totally to Him. God has the ability to turn the tide in America but His Word says He will not do anything until His people turn back to Him. We are in the midst of a movement in America to turn back to God and reclaim our country for Christ.
To see change, we have to change. Every Christian in America has to turn from their wicked ways and seek God with all their heart. God does not expect atheists to seek Him but He does expect His People to seek Him first and obey His Commandments. He said, If you love me, keep my Commandments.
The Body of Christ in America today is not keeping God’s Commandments. We have turned away from Him in just about every aspect of our lives and now we are wondering why He is responding the way He is. I don’t know what people expect! God does not enable people in sin. He just won’t do that. He never has and he isn't going to start now.
He is asking of His people today in the same way He always has. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33) It’s pretty cut and dry. God demands to be FIRST before everything else. Either you love God more than anything else, or you don’t. Either you are living for God and walking in His Ways, or you’re not.
It’s time to turn back to God. Then He will……….turn the tide
