Unconditional Eternal Security

James 3:1 My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.

From your responses to the Morning Message yesterday, I see that it has caused many of you to take a second look at the doctrine of unconditional eternal security. This is also called, once saved, always saved and it’s a false doctrine. Unfortunately, many denominations hold fast to this falsehood, and those who preach it and teach it will be held accountable.

Everyone will give an account to God for their life. As born-again Christians, we will stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ. At this time we will NOT be judged for our sins that we have repented of because all those sins have been washed away by our faith in the shed Blood of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary. At the Judgment Seat of Christ, we will be issued our rewards based upon our work to build the Kingdom of God.

In addition to the Gospel of John and Revelation, the Apostle John wrote three short Books in the Bible. These Books are written to believers. They are not written to the lost world but to those who have been born again. He instructs us to live our lives in a state of continuous repentance. Although we have been Saved, Justified, Redeemed, and born again, we still sin and we must confess these sins and seek the Forgiveness of God. If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus instructed His followers on how to pray. In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed by Your Name. Your Kingdom come. Your Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil for Thine is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory forever. Amen. (Matthew 6:9-13) In this model prayer (given to us by Jesus) we are to ask forgiveness for our sins. and forgive us our trespasses Why would Jesus instruct us to pray this if we didn’t have to ask for God’s Forgiveness?

If everyone who once professed faith in Jesus was forever saved and it didn’t matter what they did or how they lived their lives, why is the majority of the New Testament instructions on how to live a life pleasing to God? It just doesn’t make sense.

In the Book of Hebrews, we read And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. (Hebrews 4:13)

The Apostle Paul wrote the following to the Church in Rome: For we shall all stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ. For it is written: “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God.” So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. Therefore, let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way. (Romans 14:10-13)

We will each give account to God. No one is excluded from this. To teach anything else is dangerous and harmful. The doctrine of unconditional eternal security is one of the most harmful doctrines ever taught. This teaching has caused many believers to stumble in their walk with God.

For those of you who have taught this, please understand that you will be held to a stricter standard. My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment. (James 3:1) Put away all false doctrine. Preach and teach the Truth of the Word of God. Read it and believe it. God is Who He says He is and He does what He says He will do.

The Truth of the Word of God will….…….turn the tide………..in your life and set you free.
