Psalms 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.
In this single Verse of Scripture we find three Benefits of being a born again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. They are: INSTRUCTION; TEACHING and GUIDANCE.
When we add these Benefits to the list we already have, we find that we serve an AWESOME God Who loves us beyond our comprehension and wants the best for us. Our daily walk (lifestyle) is incredibly important to Him and so He has sent His Holy Spirit to provide us with continual INSTRUCTION; TEACHING and GUIDANCE.
The Apostle Paul wrote letters to young Timothy. In his second letter to him, Paul told him of the importance of the Word of God. What Paul didn’t realize at the time is that what he was writing WAS the very Word of God being penned by his own hand. Amazing!
Paul wrote: All Scripture is given by Inspiration of God, for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for in Righteousness, the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
The Word of God is exactly that: The Words of God Almighty in written form. Think about the fact that we hold the very Thoughts and Words of the Creator of the universe in our hands. The Book that we call the Bible contains everything we need to know about life and how to live it. It is our Instruction Manual for every aspect of our lives.
However, for those who cannot understand the Bible, it is just another book on the shelf. I suppose that’s why so many homes have dusty Bibles stuck away in a book shelf with all the other books no one reads.
Therefore, while the Bible (the Word of God) is absolutely a tremendous Benefit to the born again believer, the true Benefit is UNDERSTANDING. Without understanding of the Word of God, one is unable to apply it to their life making it of little affect or importance.
Jesus spoke on the subject of understanding. He said, “To you has been given the Secret of the Kingdom of God, but for those outside everything is in parables, so that they may indeed see but not perceive, and may indeed hear but not understand, lest they should turn and be forgiven.” (Mark 4:11-12) In this Statement, Jesus declared that the Secret of the Kingdom of God is UNDERSTANDING and only truly born again believers have this Benefit.
If you have a hard time understanding the Word of God, seek true UNDERSTANDING. Declare your belief in Jesus Christ. Claim Him as your Savior and Lord. Pray and ask God to give you Understanding of His Word. He will do this for you. Jesus promised, Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. What man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in Heaven give good things to those who ask Him! (Matthew 7:7-11)
God wants us to have every Benefit. He wants to give them all to us. Some come automatically while others need to be asked for. If you are in need of the Benefit of UNDERSTANDING, ask for it. Your Heavenly Father stands ready to give it to you.
The Benefit of Understanding will……….turn the tide……..in your life.
