Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should boast except in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

 

There is nothing in this world worth boasting or bragging about except the Cross of Christ. The Apostle Paul preached this everywhere he went because he believed it with all his heart. The Sacrifice of Christ on the Cross changed Paul’s life and he boasted about it every day.

 

The Cross of Christ is the ONLY thing that changes people for the better. Nothing in this world can bring about positive change like faith in the shed Blood of Christ on the Cross. That’s why Paul wrote But God forbid that I should boast except in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. (Galatians 6:14)

 

Paul understood the value of the Sacrifice Jesus made on Crucifixion Day. Prior to his conversion, Paul was not a poor man. He was a wealthy man and the most educated person alive at that time. He had spent years studying behind the great Gamaliel. Paul understood wealth and the value of things.

 

What determines the value of something? In most cases, the value of an object is based on what it costs to make it and what it costs to buy it. A car is a car and all cars are a mode of transportation. They are all designed to transport people from one place to another. However, all cars do not have the same value because some cars cost a lot more than others.

 

The other determining factor in something’s value is how it affects its owner’s life. A beat-up car with torn seats and broken windows is not worth as much as a luxury sedan because of the effect it makes on the owner’s life. The luxury sedan is worth far more than the beat-up car. It cost more to make. It cost more to buy and it has a far better effect on the owner’s life. The value is nowhere near the same.

 

Let us consider the value of the Cross of Christ in our lives. It cost the Heavenly Father His only Son. It costs every believer their own life. It has the most life-changing effect on the believer. Nothing in this world compares to the value of the Cross of Christ! Therefore, nothing else is worth boasting about.
