Revelation 21:7-8 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the fearful, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
In His Letter to the Church in Smyrna, Jesus made a Promise that holds for us today. He wrote, He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death. (Revelation 2:11) The first death is natural death that we all will experience at some point in time. The second death refers to eternal death in the Lake of Fire. This is for all of eternity.
In Revelation 21:7-8 we find more detail about who will suffer the second death in the Lake of Fire, which is a real place. The goal in life is to spend eternity in Heaven with God and not be sentenced to eternity in the Lake of Fire; Hell.
For those who are not sure about their eternal destiny, Jesus spelled it out plainly. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the fearful, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. (Revelation 21:7-8)
As we have discussed many times before, to be an overcomer is to live in Victory over sin. The only way to do this is to place your faith in the Finished Work of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary. It was there that He overcame the power of the Devil on our behalf. We don’t have to do it. We CAN’T do it. All we have to do is live our lives every day in faith in what Jesus accomplished on our behalf. Therein lies our Victory over sin which enables us to be overcomers. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. (Revelation 21:7)
On the other hand, He said, But the fearful, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. (Revelation 21:8)
It’s important to understand the meaning of the Words Jesus used that will condemn a person to the Lake of Fire for all of eternity. We will take them one at a time starting tomorrow and we will back them up with other Scriptures. We need not look to man’s definitions. In every case, Scripture interprets Scripture.
The Word of God is True. God means what He says. You can stand on His Word. He keeps His Promises. He wants you to be an overcomer. He sent His Son to die on the Cross so you can be an overcomer and spend all of eternity in Heaven with Him. All it takes is faith on your part.
Believe! God will soon……….turn the tide
