John 10:10 I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly.
Every believer understands that Jesus went to the Cross for their sins. They have learned John 3:16 and can recite it perfectly. For God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have Everlasting Life. That’s wonderful and probably the most important Verse spoken by Jesus BUT it’s not the ONLY Verse spoken by Him.
Is our Salvation only about the afterlife? Is Salvation all about where we will spend eternity? Is that all Salvation is about? If so, then why did Jesus say I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly. (John 10:10)? Why did Jesus preach the Sermon on the Mount which was instructions on how to live a life pleasing to God?
Why did the Holy Spirit inspire all the New Testament writers to write on the subject of Righteous Living if it didn’t make any difference how we live? All of Paul’s Epistles to the Churches are instructions on Righteous Living after Salvation.
Jesus went to the Cross to Redeem us of our sins AND defeat the power of the Devil in our lives now. Jesus said, Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19) Why would He say this if we didn’t need this authority and power over the enemy? We won’t need it in Heaven. That’s for sure. We need it now, here in this life!
Jesus went to the Cross to save us from BOTH the PENALTY of sin (death) and the POWER of sin (torture) in our lives now while we are alive on earth. Until we understand ALL that Jesus accomplished on the Cross, we will not be free from sin and shame in this life.
The only way to be free from the attack of the enemy is to understand that, on the Cross, Jesus defeated all his power. When Jesus said, It is finished. (John 19:30) He meant what He said. His Work on Earth was complete. The power of Satan and all his demons and fallen angels had been defeated. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. (Colossians 2:15)
We don’t have to wait until we die and go to Heaven to have Victory over the enemy. Jesus went to the Cross so we can have it now; RIGHT NOW! Hallelujah!
Faith in Christ Crucified will……….turn the tide……..in your life!
Victory today! Doreen
