Walk The Walk

Matthew 28:20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

The above Words were spoken to the remaining eleven disciples by Jesus after His Resurrection. They were somewhat confused but Jesus brought clarity to their hearts and minds with these Words.

For several months we have searched the Scriptures for God’s Plan and Purpose for His Church. We have sought the answer to the question: What is the Church supposed to be doing? We have come to the conclusion that the Church is in fact the Body of Christ. Believers are called Christians which means to be as Christ-like as we possibly can.

The mission of the Church is to be the continuation of Jesus’ Ministry here on earth. The things that He did, we are to continue doing. We are to do our best to treat people as Jesus treated them. Jesus said, And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise. (Luke 6:31) We know this as the Golden Rule and many people teach it to their children but few people today give Jesus Christ the credit for speaking it.

When asked about the Great Commission, most Christians will quote Matthew 28:19. Go ye therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Yes, these are the Words of Jesus, but this is only half of His Statement. He went on to say, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

Most Evangelists today do preach the Gospel and some do follow through with Water Baptism. However, few obey the Lord’s Command when He said, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you. In my opinion, this is where the Body of Christ fails. People simply have not been taught how to live for God. They don’t know what Jesus commanded us to do, so they don’t do it.

It’s easy to pick and choose a few Words or a single phrase out of the Bible to live by but to read the entire Word of God and seek to apply it ALL to our lives is seldom done. Why? Because it’s not easy. It takes humility, surrender, and commitment to live as Jesus commanded us to live.

Unfortunately, few people (even ministers) don’t do this themselves. The truth is, we cannot teach something we don’t know. We cannot lead people where we are not going ourselves. It’s very easy to find people who talk the talk but very difficult to find those who walk the walk.

Jesus commanded us to walk the walk; His Walk. His call has always been, Follow Me. This is how He called His Disciples when He walked this earth and this is how He still calls people today. This not only means to follow after Him but it means to do what He is doing. John recorded Jesus saying, If you love Me, keep My Commandments. (John 14:15)

It’s time for us to read the whole Word of God. It’s time to keep His Commandments. It’s time to repent, surrender, and commit our whole lives to Him. It’s time to walk the walk.

It’s almost time for God to……..….turn the tide

Committed to Him,         Doreen
