John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

 

The modern-day church has drifted far away from God’s Pattern for the Church that we find in the 2nd Chapter of the Book of Acts. Luke recorded in the Book of Acts many Miracles performed by the Power of the Holy Spirit through the believers at that time; the First Church. They could do nothing on their own, but because they were filled with the Holy Spirit, they were able to continue the Ministry of Jesus.

 

The Holy Spirit is the Work Force of God. Jesus performed countless Miracles during His Ministry here on earth, but every one of them was done by the Power of Holy Spirit in Him. Jesus is God and could have done anything, but He wanted His followers to see the Power of the Holy Spirit of God and He taught about Him.

 

Luke recorded Jesus say, The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has Anointed me to…..(Luke 4:18) The Holy Spirit Anointed Jesus with the Power to do His Ministry. If Jesus needed the Holy Spirit, how much more must we need Him?

 

We can do nothing on our own. The Holy Spirit draws people to repentance. No one comes to the Saving Grace and Salvation of Christ unless the Spirit draws them. Likewise, no one can operate in any Miraculous Gifting unless the Holy Spirit Anoints them to do so like He did Jesus.

 

It is the Anointing that breaks the yoke. (Isaiah 10:27) The Holy Spirit does the Anointing. Mere human beings do not have the ability to anoint anyone or anything on their own. The Holy Spirit does this.

 

God uses people to do His Work. He has always used people and He does so by and through the Power of the Holy Spirit in them. Without the Holy Spirit there is no Power of God to do anything. The First Church was Powerful and those people performed many Miracles because they were filled with the Holy Spirit. The Spirit within them gave them the Power of God to do everything they accomplished.

 

When Jesus went to be with the Father in Heaven, (His Ascension) the Holy Spirit came to dwell in the hearts and lives of believers. The Holy Spirit is Jesus’ replacement for the Work of Ministry on Earth. He told us this! Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. (John 16:7)

 

Much of the Church today has rejected the Holy Spirit. That’s why we see little to no working of Miracles in the Church. It is the Holy Spirit that does this! Without Him, there is no Ministry. This is the biggest difference between the Church today and the First Church we read about in the Book of Acts. We MUST have the Holy Spirit back in the Church. We MUST!
