What A Friend!

James 2:23 Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him for Righteousness. And he was called the Friend of God.

God loves you; not for what you do, but because of who you are. But God commended His Love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

We all want to be counted among the Righteous, but this can never be attained by our own trying or works. Abraham is the perfect example. He believed God and it was accounted to him for Righteousness. That’s all Abraham did; believe God. He did not fulfill the Law. He couldn’t do that and he didn’t have to. All God asked Abraham to do was believe Him and he did. Because of his faith in God he became known as the Father of Faith; the Friend of God.

All God asks of us is to love Him and believe in Him. That means, have faith in Who He is and What He is able to do (which is everything). There is nothing God cannot do. There is no task beyond His capability. With God, all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26) All it takes on our part is to believe; have faith in God.

God sent His Son to die on the Cross for the sins of the world. That includes every sin you and I have ever committed. Our sin debt has been paid in full. We are not in debt to God for anything. Therefore, our slate is clean and we can live our lives in gratefulness, wanting to please God. We do this by placing our faith in Him and His Son.

When our faith is properly placed (in the Finished Work of Christ on the Cross), our relationship changes with God. Jesus said, No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things I have heard from My Father I have made known to you. (John 15:15)

God wants to know that you believe that He loves you. Do you believe God loves you? Do you believe He sent His Son to die a horrible death on the Cross for you? He did it just for you! Why? Because He loves you and He wants you to be counted among the Righteous. He wants to call you friend. He wants to be your friend. What a Friend we have in Jesus when we place our trust in Him.

Jesus is the only One Who can……….turn the tide……..in your life.

Believe it! Doreen
