Matthew 16:16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.”
When Jesus walked this Earth, He was God with the people. He spent time with them and He helped them. He was their Teacher, Healer, and Deliverer. He spoke to them the Words of God and taught them everything they needed to know.
He performed for them supernatural Miracles that they could not explain. He was everything they needed at that time. He was God with them. So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the Prophet, saying: “Behold, the Virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His Name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” (Matthew 1:23)
Jesus was Immanuel, God with us. He was God Incarnate. God personified. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. (John 1:14) For thirty-three years God walked this Earth as a man; a Perfect, sin-free man; the Man, Christ Jesus.
However, to walk this Earth as a man and perform spectacular, supernatural Miracles, was not the Purpose of Jesus living as a man. His Purpose in living was to die on the Cross of Calvary for the sins of mankind.
So, why did Jesus perform all those Miracles? He did all these things to prove to the people Who He was. Only God could do such Miraculous things! The people had to be convinced that Jesus was the Son of God, who would soon become the perfect Lamb of God and Sacrificed on the Cross of Calvary for their sins.
God wanted all people to be Redeemed of their sins. This required a Perfect Blood Sacrifice and Jesus was His choice. John the Baptist introduced Jesus to the world as the Lamb of God. The people had no idea what John was talking about but as time went on and Jesus proved to them that He was indeed the Son of the Living God, they began to believe.
At Caesarea Philippi, Jesus asked His Disciples Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am? So they said, Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the Prophets. He said to them, But who do you say that I am? Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God. (Matthew 16:13-16)
Who do you say Jesus is? Your answer to this question will determine your eternal destiny.
The right answer will………..turn the tide ……….in your life!
