Who And What

1 Peter 2:24 He Himself bore our sins in His Body on the Tree, that we might die to sin and live to Righteousness. By His stripes you have been healed.

Everyone has a name and we all leave a legacy when we die. Our name is a representation of WHO we are. Our legacy is a representation of WHAT we did. Who we are has little effect on other people but what we do has a great effect. And so it is with the Man Christ Jesus.

Jesus has many Names that describe Who He is. Just to name a few, Jesus’ Names include: The Word, Messiah, Son of God, Son of Man, Faithful and True, Lily of the Valley, Bread of Life, Light of the World, The Amen, The Way, True Vine, Savior, Teacher, Chief Shepherd, God With Us, Everlasting God, Faithful Witness, Lion of Judah, Lord, Master, Morning Star, Second Adam, Prince of Peace, Redeemer, Rose of Sharon, Intercessor.

All these Names describe Who Jesus is and they all add to the picture of Jesus we paint in our mind’s eye. However, while we may very well believe all these Names describe Jesus, none of Who Jesus was and is, will bring Salvation to anyone.

Not everything Jesus did will result in Salvation. His Virgin Birth will not bring Salvation. His Perfect, Sinless Life will not either. Nor will all the Miracles He performed cause anyone to be Saved and born-again. All these things proved WHO Jesus was. They proved Him to be the Son of God.

The “WHO” about Jesus had to be proven before the “WHAT” He did could be accepted and believed in.

Only faith in WHAT Jesus did on the Cross of Calvary will result in Salvation. Peter said, He Himself bore our sins in His Body on the Tree, that we might die to sin and live to Righteousness. (1 Peter 2:24)

The Apostle Paul wrote, For our sake He (God) made Him to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the Righteousness of God. (1 Corinthians 5:21)

While all the Names of Jesus are incredibly important because we need to know and believe in WHO Jesus is, it is faith in the WHAT He did on the Cross that results in Salvation. He did it all for you. He did it all for me. Believe it with all your heart and you will be Saved and born again. Then, you can rejoice because your name is written in Heaven. (Luke 10:20)

Faith in WHAT Jesus did will……….turn the tide

I place my faith in WHAT He did, Doreen
