Who Is Knocking?
July 28, 2022, 3:00 AM

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

Our study of the Book of Acts has revealed that Jesus was very much involved in the Ministry of the First Church. He was the focal point of all that they said and did. As best they could, believers operated as if He was still with them.

However, by the time we get to the Book of Revelation, we find Jesus outside knocking on the door asking permission to enter. Sadly, this is an accurate picture of much of the Church today. Jesus is nowhere to be found. He has been put out of the Church all together and the doors are closed and locked.

I ask you today to take a hard look at the church you attend. Where is Jesus? Is His Ministry on earth being continued through your church? Is His shed Blood on the Cross of Calvary taught or even mentioned? Is the church you attend duplicating the Ministry of the First Church where it was all about Jesus and powered by the Holy Spirit?

The purpose of the Church is to preach the Gospel of Christ to see people set free from the sin and bondage in their lives. That’s WHY Jesus went to the Cross! Is that what most churches are all about today? I’m sorry to report that it is not.

The Passage of Scripture, Revelation 3:20, is not an invitation to the lost world. Jesus is not speaking to the world in this Scripture. He is talking to the Church! He is addressing believers and the leaders of groups of believers. He is speaking to the Body of Christ who have locked Him outside.

Jesus wants inside the Church. He wants to once again be the Leader of what is done there. Without Jesus, there is no Church. Without Jesus there is nothing! Please remember that we are the Church. No you not that you are the Temple of God? (1 Corinthians 3:16) Where is Jesus in your Temple? Is He inside or have you locked Him out?

Everything about Jesus is GOOD! He is standing outside knocking on the door. Open the door and let Him in. Let Him inside you and let Him inside your Church. If the leadership of your Church does not agree with this, they are serving another Jesus.

I suggest you find a group of believers that are in agreement and who want Jesus inside and active in their ministry. This may be hard to find and they may not meet in a big, fancy building. That’s okay. Jesus is not about big, fancy buildings. He is about seeing people saved, healed and delivered from sin and the bondage of sin in their lives. He said, The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord. (Luke 4:18-19)

This was the Ministry of Jesus Christ. This is to be the Ministry of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ today. Anything else falls short of being what the Lord has commissioned us to do. Be still and listen. Do you hear the heartbeat of Jesus inside your heart or do you hear Him outside knocking, asking to come in?

Let Him in. He wants to….…….turn the tide……….in your life.
