John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

 

Jesus had the credentials He needed to be known and accepted for Who He was: the Son of the Living God. The Prophets of Old had spoken of Him and His Coming. He performed so many wonderful Miracles they could not be disputed.

 

However, the Jewish leaders did not want to believe in Jesus. To believe in Him would strip them of their power and position in the Synagogue and society. I believe that in their hearts they knew Who He was but to save their power and position, they had to deny Him.

 

Not only did they deny Him, but they also killed Him. Peter reminded them of this fact when he said, The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, and killed the Prince of Life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses. (Acts 3:13-15) With these words, Peter told them exactly what they had done and let them know that everyone knew it.

 

They did not deny Christ for any noble reason. They denied Him because they didn’t want their position in the Synagogue and society disrupted. The Jewish leaders hated Jesus so much, that they killed Him. This was the only way to stop Him. They tried to deny Him, but the people still believed and followed Him.

 

Can you see that this is exactly what is happening in the world today? The evil that is running rampant today is extremely dark. Jesus and the Gospel of Christ is the Light of the world. Evil people don’t want the Light to shine on their darkness. They have gained great power, position, and a lot of money in their dark world of evil doing. They like it. They are Satan worshipers and lovers of the darkness. This is why they have worked so hard for the past 60-70 years to close the Bible and deny the Gospel of Christ.

 

Why do people deny Christ today? Why do they choose not to believe when the evidence is so profound? The answer is simple. They love the darkness and evil. They identify more with Satan than they do Jesus Christ. Jesus told us this. And this is the condemnation, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. (John 3:19)

 

To love Jesus and follow Him one must deny self and evil. They must want to walk out of the darkness and into the Light. No one can love evil and follow Christ at the same time. All must choose. What do you choose?
