Why Me?

Luke 2:10 Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.

Can you imagine being a shepherd out in the field just looking after your sheep and have an Angel of the Lord appear before you! Wow! What must they have thought? The Bible tells us they were afraid. I suppose so. Who wouldn’t be?

But then the Angel spoke to them and said: Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. (Luke 2:10)

We don’t know a lot about Angels but we do know that they are Messengers from God. This Angel had been given the assignment to announce to those shepherds the Birth of the Savior of the world. What a thrill for that Angel to be chosen for this assignment!

The Angel went on to say: For there is born to you this day in the City of David a Savior, Who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger. (Luke 2:11-12)

Apparently, the shepherds couldn’t believe their eyes and ears so God sent a whole host of Heavenly Beings! And suddenly there was with the Angel a multitude of the Heavenly Host praising God and saying: Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace, goodwill toward men! (Luke 2:13-14)

Well, that made believers out of them! When all the Angels left, they quickly decided to go find this baby. So it was, when the Angels had gone away from them into Heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us. (Luke 2:15)

I wonder why God chose those particular shepherds. There were hundreds of shepherds in that area at that time, but He chose them. Also, out of the billions of Angels in His Creation, He chose that one certain Angel. Why those shepherds and why that one Angel?

He chose them for the same reason He has chosen you for your particular work in His Kingdom. Out of the billions of people in the world, He chose you. Did you ever think about that?

Jesus said, You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit. (John 15:16) Yes, you have been chosen by God for something very special. I pray you know that today.

God wants to……….turn the tide……..in your life.

Chosen,         Doreen
