Isaiah 5:8-10 Woe unto them who join house to house, who lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the Earth! In my ears said the Lord of Hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant. Yes, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of a homer shall yield an ephah.
In the fifth Chapter of Isaiah, we read of the six “woes” described by the Holy Spirit. In studying this, it is easy to see that this is an accurate description of the world today, and unfortunately, much of the Body of Christ.
This first "woe" deals with jealousy and covetousness. It speaks to the person who is never satisfied with what they have but seeks to attain more and more. They buy up all the neighbor's houses and the land around them, not because they need them, simply because they want them and they can.
God says, “Woe unto them.” Woe means trouble is coming.
This is the demonic spirit of covetousness and greed ministering to these people. In today’s world, it is not limited to houses and land but includes cars, equipment, clothes, household goods, jewelry, and other earthly possessions. matter how much they have, it’s never enough. The spirit of covetousness and greed always demands more; more, more, more.
It is actually the love of money at work. It takes money to purchase another house, more land, and more things. You cannot buy more clothes without more money. Another car costs more money. A bigger and better television costs more money. Everything costs more money and how much of this stuff do we really need?
Hebrews 13:5 Keep your life free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for He has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
In these Last Days, times could get hard; very hard. We may have to learn to live with much less than we have. Our greedy days could be over very soon. Said, "Woe unto them." means, trouble is coming.
Let us seek more of God instead of more of the world and its possessions. More of God costs nothing. Everything of Him is FREE! You don’t have to go get a loan from your banker to have greater Peace of God. You don’t have to raise your credit limit to acquire Salvation, Healing and Deliverance and live in the Freedom Christ died for you to have.
Ask God to show you how the spirits of covetousness and greed are ministering to you. What do you buy just to have more?
Take a moment to think of how many people could be ministered to if the spirit of covetousness and greed were cast out of every born again believer. Oh my! The money that is wasted on more and more unneeded stuff is pitiful. And the Lord said, “Woe unto them.”
1 Peter 4:10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied Grace. God intends us to be good stewards of everything we have and not continually want more and more.
God will soon……..turn the tide
