Yes, Lord, Yes

Genesis 12:2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing.

God had an important plan for Abram. God wanted to bless him with a great nation, wealth, family, and name. God wanted to bless Abram but in order for all that to happen, Abram had to be obedient to God’s Call on his life.

Abram had to be willing to leave his father’s house and go to an unknown land. In Biblical times, family was extremely important. People didn’t leave their family and go off on their own like we do today. When the father moved, the whole family moved. For Abram to leave his father’s house and his family was extremely uncommon.

Abram didn’t leave because he wanted to. He left because God told him to. God will always separate us from people and places that hinder our walk with Him. Abram’s father and the people of Ur worshiped Babylonian gods. Thus says the Lord God of Israel: “Your fathers, including Terah, the father of Abraham and the father of Nahor, dwelt on the other side of the River in old times; and they served other gods. (Joshua 24:2)

Abram’s father, Terah, not only worshipped pagan gods himself, he made idols and sold them to pagan worshipers. Abram and his brothers were a part of their father’s business. This is why God called Abram to leave his father’s house. Abram could never fulfill God’s Plan for his life if he stayed there.

When God spoke to Abram and told him to leave, He made Abram three Promises. He promised to give him a land of his own; He promised Him a great nation; He promised to make his name great. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. (Genesis 12:2)

Abram was 75 years old when God called him out of his father’s house. He had lived there and been a part of his family and the family business his whole life but God had another Plan for Abram. He could have stayed with his family and continued in his pagan worship but he knew the Voice of God and he obeyed.

Never think you are too old to answer the Call of God on your life. He has a Plan for you. How will you respond to His Call?

Say yes and watch God……….turn the tide……….in your life.
