Proverbs 6:17-19 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that swiftly run to mischief, a false witness that speaks lies, and he that sows discord among brethren.
Some people are teaching today that it doesn’t matter what we do or how we live if we have once uttered the sinner's prayer. I would venture to say that these people have never read the Bible. The entire Word of God is His Instructions on how to live our lives pleasing to Him. It is our Manual For Living a Godly life.
Allow me to suggest to you that Scripture interprets Scripture. If you are not sure what a Passage of Scripture really means, keep studying. Do a word search on certain words and read what God has to say on that particular subject. This practice will take you through the Bible and you will come to a proper understanding.
This is what we have been doing since we began our study on God’s Pattern For His Church. We started in the Book of Acts because that’s where the First Christian Church is written about. From there, our study took us to the 2nd and 3rd Chapters of the Book of Revelation where Jesus praised and criticized the seven churches of that time.
This is where we still are in our study but when we came to the Church in Smyrna, and the Words: "He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.” we did a search on the words second death. This took us to Revelation 21:7-8 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the fearful, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
At that point, we began to define the things that will cause a person to experience the second death and spend eternity in the Lake of Fire; Hell. This is where we find ourselves today. We spent a few days on fear because, in my opinion, this is one of Satan’s most powerful weapons against all believers.
We also discussed the pitfalls of having unbelief. That brought us to that which God calls abominable. A search of that word took us to Proverbs 6:17-19 where Solomon breaks it down for us as those who have A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that swiftly run to mischief, a false witness that speaks lies, and he that sows discord among brethren.
The Book of Proverbs is the easiest Book in the Bible to understand. Solomon’s writings are practical and easy to comprehend. In a nutshell, he describes abominable as those who are prideful, liars, those who hurt or kill innocent people, those who are manipulators and think up evil schemes, those who seek trouble and mischief, all liars including those who blame others for their wrongdoing, and those people who stir up trouble in the Church.
That’s quite a list and we could spend several days on each one. However, the point I would like to make today is that it really does matter how we live our lives. No matter what some people say, our lifestyle and how we conduct ourselves do matter and we will answer for our conduct. The Word of God makes that perfectly clear.
Salvation is not a license to sin. The Apostle Paul wrote on this subject to the Church in Rome. What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that Grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? (Romans 6:1-2)
Allow me to suggest to you that you stop listening to the words of man and turn to the Word of God. When you stand before Him one day, He is not going to cut you any slack because of what some man told you. You are responsible for your own actions. You are responsible for reading the Word of God for yourself and seeking the Holy Spirit for your own understanding. I suggest you do so because………..
God is about to……….turn the tide
Thank you Lord for your Word, Doreen
