You Are The Temple Of God

Psalms 37:5-6 Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your Righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.

Paul and Silas were severely beaten and imprisoned for casting out a demon from a young woman. They were put in stocks with the other prisoners and a jailer was assigned to guard them. Paul and Silas had the faith to believe God would see them through this situation one way or another so they prayed and sang praises to Him that night.

Their prayers and songs of praise ushered the Presence of God into that prison. God showed up in a huge way and caused the foundation of the prison to shake. At that point, all the prison doors flew open and the chains fell from every prisoner. They had all been released and set free by God. Every prisoner could have escaped that night but they didn’t go anywhere. The Presence of God was so heavy, none of them wanted to leave.

When the jailer woke up and discovered what happened, he knew the officials would kill him, so he decided to commit suicide. Paul put a stop to his plan by saying, Do yourself no harm, we are all here. (Acts 16:28) At this point, the jailer was also engulfed in the Presence of God which was something none of them had ever experienced before.

The jailer knew he was in the midst of something supernatural and of God, as did all the prisoners. They all looked to Paul and Silas because they knew these two men of God had brought the Light of the Lord to this dark, damp, horrible place. The jailer answered with a simple question, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? (Acts 16:30)

In a nutshell, this is what happened. Paul and Silas (two Called men of God) took the Gospel of Christ into that prison. They did what all Called men of God should do. They prayed and gave God praise by singing songs. Their faith, prayers, and praises ushered in the Presence of God and in that filthy, dark prison, every person experienced the Power and Presence of God Almighty and they all got saved!

They had Church in the prison that night at midnight. This can be done anywhere at any time. We are the Church. Like Paul and Silas, we have the ability to take the Presence of God with us everywhere we go. The world is a dark, horrible place. We carry the Light of Christ. We are the Temple of God.

Paul fully understood this. That’s why he asked the Corinthians Do you not know that you are the Temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? (1 Corinthians 3:16) Likewise, I ask you today: Don’t you know that you are the Temple of God? Don’t you understand that the Holy Spirit of God dwells inside you? You are to be Salt and Light in this dark, evil world. Just as Paul and Silas brought the Light of the Lord into that prison that night, we are to do the same. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven. (Matthew 5:16)

The Light of the Lord Jesus Christ will…..…….turn the tide……….in this world.

Thank you Jesus!         Doreen
