You Are What You Think

Romans 12:2 And to not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect Will of God.

As believers, we want to live our lives pleasing to God. We want to be in His Will. Prior to our salvation, this is impossible because the sin nature that rules and reigns in everyone takes priority. However, once we are saved and born again, the Holy Spirit begins to transform us into the person God created us to be. This process is the most amazing Miracle known to man.

Salvation is a matter of the heart but transformation takes place in the mind. In short, we are what we think. We believe what we think and our thoughts predict who we are, how we talk, and what we do. Solomon, the wisest man to ever live wrote For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. (Proverbs 23:7)

What you choose to think about and dwell on today will determine what type of person you will be tomorrow. You are what you think. Our thoughts are our own. We choose what we think about. Negative thoughts and evil thoughts will produce negative and evil words and actions. This is why the Apostle Paul wrote Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. (Philippians 4:8)

While Salvation and Sanctification are both supernatural Miracles, we do have a part to play. Our role is to surrender to the Will of God. The Holy Spirit will work in any area of our lives that we submit to Him. He will never force anyone to do anything. Surrendering to God’s Will is a choice each of us must make.

The Word of God gives us instructions on how to live our lives pleasing to God. We have free will to decide whether or not to accept God’s instructions. If we cooperate with God and allow the Holy Spirit to transform us, He will. If we choose to resist God, the Holy Spirit will back up and wait.

The transformation of the human mind is a Miracle. God is able to do this. He wants to transform our minds. He will do this if we welcome Him into our lives and submit to Him. All we have to do is give up and quit trying to do it ourselves. The Work has already been done in the spirit realm. Jesus defeated all power of the enemy on the Cross of Calvary. If we believe that and keep that in the forefront of our minds, the Holy Spirit will transform our minds which will bring about change in our lives.

God wants to……..….turn the tide...........in your mind!
