Ephesians 2:4-7 But God, who is rich in Mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by Grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the Heavenly Places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His Grace in His Kindness toward us in Christ Jesus
To understand and take possession of any of the Benefits of being a born again Christian, we must understand and believe in our spiritual identity. We must know who we are in Christ and what Jesus did for us on the Cross of Calvary.
First of all, we need to understand that we are sitting together with Him in Heavenly Places. and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the Heavenly Places in Christ Jesus, (Ephesians 2:6) We all know that Jesus had Power over demon spirits. One third of His earthly Ministry consisted of casting out demons.
Jesus passed this Power on to all believers. We have been given the same Power to bind and cast out any demonic spirit. In the Gospel of Luke, we read where Jesus sent out seventy people to be an extension of His Ministry. They were Disciples of Christ; trained by the Master, Himself. Were they perfect? No, but they were willing to go and do what Jesus had taught them to do. Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your Name.” And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from Heaven. Behold I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means harm you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in Heaven.” (Luke 10:17-20)
Jesus watched as His Father banished Lucifer from Heaven. He saw him fall like lightning. Jesus told us this so we know our position is OVER demonic spirits. As believers in Christ, we have been elevated UP to sit together with Him in Heavenly Places. Satan has been cast out, DOWN into the ground where he must stay.
When you get the picture in your mind of yourself high and lifted up in Heavenly Places with Christ and Satan and his demonic spirits cast down to the ground like the worms that they are, you understand your authority over them. They have no power over you. They cannot harm you at all. They are nothing more than an irritation that must be cast out.
Malachi Prophesied of this: You shall trample the wicked, for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day that I do this,” says the Lord of hosts. (Malachi 43) We have been given the authority by Jesus to do this! In My Name they will cast out demons; (Mark 16:17)
Our Ministry here on Earth is to be an extension of the Ministry of Jesus. That’s what it means to be a Disciple of Christ. Without Him we can do nothing but we can do all things through Christ Who strengthens us. In His Name, we can see people Saved, Healed and Delivered. That was the Ministry of Jesus and that is to be our Ministry as well. This is your identity in Christ as a believer and follower of Him.
