A Cart Full Of Sin

Isaiah 5:18-19Woe unto them who draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart: Who say, Let Him make speed, and hasten His Work, that we may se it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it.

This third woe is directed to those who choose to add sin to sin in their lives. Not just one sin but cart loads of sin that they are tied to with cords of vanity. One sin leads to another and those who do not recognize the sin in their lives quickly find themselves tied to a cart load of.

The enemy is tricky and over time sucks people in to a life totally engulfed in sin as he seeks ONLY to kill, steal and destroy people. What starts with a “little white lie” of a sin can manifest into all sorts of sin which always ends in death and destruction.

Satan uses people to recruit other people into sin. This is how the homosexual movement has grown over the past several decades. These people recruit others into this sinful lifestyle. It’s also true in gangs, cults, and any other groups that has sin at it’s core. If the enemy can get a person connected with others involved in a sinful lifestyle, they can be drawn into that behavior themselves. Before you know it, they are dragging a whole cart full of sin around everywhere they go.

The second part of this third woe speaks to those who mock God and taunt Him. These people either don’t believe in God and His Judgment, or they have become so callused by the sin in their life, they make fun of God.

A modern day translation of this Passage might go something like this: “Hey God, we know we are sinners. So what? You say You are God and can bring judgment on us, bring it on. Let us see what you say you are able to do. You call yourself the Holy One of Israel, show us.” This is a very dangerous position to take but as Satan works to destroy people, the demonic influence in their lives can lead them to this place.

This reminds me of Crucifixion Day when the people mocked Jesus. When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” And they put up over His head the accusation written against Him: THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS. And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads and saying, “You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the Cross.” Likewise the chief priests also, mocking with the scribes and elders, said, “He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him. (Matthew 27:29-42)

God said, Woe to these people; trouble is coming their way. They can be assured of that. The Judgment and Wrath of God is real. Hell is a real place.

What is so sad is that these people do not know it is for their sin Jesus went to the Cross. He paid it all for the sin of all the world; the scoffers, the mockers, the adulterers, the sexually immoral, the thieves, the liars, the hateful, the bitter and all the rest. No sin went unnoticed and yet many still choose to mock Him.

Jesus replied, Forgive them Father, they know not what they do. I believe He is still saying this today. He will forgive them if they repent. Otherwise it will be…..woe to them; trouble will come their way.

One day soon God will……..turn the tide

Praise God for forgiveness,
