A Child Named John

Matthew 1:23 Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His Name Immanuel, which is translated, “God with us.”

When the time was precisely right, God caused a huge change to take place. He caused a Part of Himself (the Person of the Word) to take on flesh and become man. This Man was unlike any other man to ever live. His Birth was unlike any other. He was born of a virgin. Unique to any other human being, this Man was not conceived of the seed of man and therefore had no sin nature. He was Perfect in every way. He was 100% God while being 100% man, at the same time.

This event changed the world. It was the fulfillment of Prophecy made over 700 years prior, proclaiming the Child would be named Immanuel, which translated means, God with us. Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His Name Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14)

Although God’s people were well aware of this Prophecy and longed for its fulfillment, God knew they would not be prepared for how He would cause it to happen. Therefore, He performed another Miracle and created a special child with a specific purpose. This miracle child was born to parents who were far beyond childbearing age. This child’s name was John. He was created to bear witness to the Messiah, Immanuel, God with us. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through Him might believe. (John 1:6-7)

The Scripture would indicate that John knew his Calling and Purpose even before he was born. While Mary was pregnant with Jesus, she went to visit her cousin, Elisabeth, who was pregnant with John. And the Word says, And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. (Luke 1:41)

God created John with a specific purpose. He creates every person with a specific purpose. He created you with a specific purpose. Whatever that Plan is, you can be assured it is good. God’s Plan for our lives is always good. His Word tells us this in Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for good and not evil. Plans to give you a future and a hope.

Seek the Plan and Purpose of God for your life. It is good. In it lies your future and your hope! All this is part of God’s Divine Order for His Universe, of which YOU are a part!

God’s Divine Order will............turn the tide

Grateful for His Plan,     Doreen
