Galatians 5:22-26 But the Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
At the young age of twenty, John Adams, who went on to be our first Vice President and second President, wrote this in his daily journal: Suppose a nation in some distant Region should take the Bible for their only law Book, and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited! Every member would be obliged in conscience, to temperance, frugality, and industry; to justice, kindness, and charity towards his fellow men; and to piety, love, and reverence toward Almighty God….What a Eutopia, what a Paradise would this region be.
John Adams and the other Founding Fathers understood that when people live by the Absolute Truth of the Bible, what the result of that standard of living would be. This is a description of living by the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the result is the Fruit of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5. What a Paradise indeed!
This is the standard upon which life in America was founded. Although there was no national religion, God’s Word was the source of every Principle this nation was built on; the Christian faith, not any one denomination. The Bible was the Rule Book and the Christian faith is outlined in the Holy Scriptures. There was and is no other source upon which Liberty and Freedom can be found. All else is falsehood resulting in tyranny.
Life in America, as the Founding Fathers desired, is a picture of the Fruit of the Spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The Bible says, Against such there is no law.
God is waiting. Only He can…….turn the tide
