Alcohol For Christians

Proverbs 23:29-35 Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaints? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes? Those who linger long at the wine, Those who go in search of mixed wine. Do not look on the wine when it is red, When it sparkles in the cup, When it swirls around smoothly; At the last it bites like a serpent, And stings like a viper. Your eyes will see strange things, And your heart will utter perverse things. Yes, you will be like one who lies down in the midst of the sea, Or like one who lies at the top of the mast, saying: “They have struck me, but I was not hurt; They have beaten me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake, that I may seek another drink?”

There is great controversy in the Church today over the subject of alcohol. Believe it or not, some churches have gone so far as to have wine served in the foyer as well as coffee. This is the work of the enemy trying to bring division in the Body of Christ.

In the Bible, the word “wine” can mean any form of grapes. In some cases, it means grape juice and even the grapes themselves. To properly discern the Scriptures in regard to wine, one must go back to the Hebrew and Greek. The bottom line is, God has no use for any mind-altering substance. This includes alcohol and any and all drugs, including prescription drugs, that alter the mind and thought processes.

When confronted with this subject, simply go to Proverbs 23:29-35 Who has woe?

This is a perfect description of a person who is addicted to drugs or alcohol. The enemy comes but to steal, kill and destroy, and drugs and alcohol are used by him to destroy many, causing them to turn their backs on God and lose their faith in Jesus Christ and His Sacrificial Work on the Cross.

God gave us a sound mind for a reason. We cannot share the Gospel and minister to people if our mind is clouded and distorted. The great Apostle Paul also wrote on this subject in his letter to the Ephesians, And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit. (Ephesians 5:18)

There is no such thing as “social drinking” or “periodic drug use.” Both cause the person to be out of their right mind, the sound mind given to them by God Almighty. No alcoholic or drug addict set out to be addicted. This was not their goal but this is where they ended up because of disobedience to the Word of God.

Drugs and alcohol will destroy your life. Many have chosen this path and are lost, dying and headed for Hell. These things ruin lives, destroy families and allow the devil to run rampant. Don’t be a victim of the devil. Seek discernment yourself and teach your children to be discerning and extremely careful when choosing their friends.

Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.” (1 Corinthians 15:33)

Only God can………turn the tide .
