Alone With God

Matthew 6:7 And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.

Yesterday we discussed the prayer for boldness made by the Body of Christ and led by Peter and John. They had come under severe persecution by the high court of the land but they did not adhere to their orders. They knew the Call on their lives to continue the Ministry of Jesus and they believed God would protect them and give them the boldness they needed to proceed.

In His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus spoke about prayer. He talked about empty phrases and long sentences with no meaning. And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathens do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. (Matthew 6:5-7)

We must spend time alone with the Lord in prayer. This is a must for every born-again believer. It is during these times we hear the Voice of God speaking to us. Follow the Divine Guidance of Jesus and just talk with God like you would anyone.

Prayer is a conversation with God and it consists of both speaking and listening. Over the years I have learned to do far more listening than speaking. God knows our desires, needs, and wants before we even ask them. We, on the other hand, do not know what God wants to tell us. To find that out, we must be quiet and listen to His Voice. Be still and know that I am God. (Psalms 46:10)

I encourage you to make time for God. He loves you so much and He has a lot to tell you. Stop praying repetitious, meaningless prayers or prayers with big fancy words. Just talk to God and listen to what He has to say. You may be surprised at what you hear. Give God a chance.

Prayer will……….turn the tide……….in your life.

I love my time with the Lord,         Doreen
