Psalm 33:12  Blessed is that nation whose God is the Lord.

Today is the 249th Anniversary of the Independence of America, and we have set another world record! No nation in history has ever sustained under the same governing system and documents for as long as we have.  Most countries take up a new system of government every twenty to forty years.

America is different than any other country. Why is that so? Founding Father John Adams gave us the answer to this question. He made the following statement: The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were…...the general principles of Christianity.  Franklin Delano Roosevelt agreed when he made the following remarks: In the formative days of the republic, the directing influence the Bible exercised upon the fathers of the Nation is conspicuously evident.

Biblical principles made America great. God has blessed our country because we have stood on His Word. Our Declaration of Independence clearly defines some of these Principles.

1. There is a Creator; God Almighty

2. God has given every individual certain rights that no man shall take away. (Inalienable rights)

3. The primary purpose of government is to protect those God given rights.

4. There is absolute moral law set forth in the Word of God. There are rights and wrongs that God set in place. (Laws of Nature and Nature’s God)

These are some of the God centered principles that framed our nation. If you take God and His Word out of the equation, you have nothing left.

Thomas Jefferson made the following statement in regard to the removal of God from our nation. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis—a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His Wrath?

When we violate the Principles of God's Word, we can expect the Wrath of God to come upon us. For the Wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the Truth in unrighteousness, (Romans 1:18)

Thomas Jefferson warned us that the only way to preserve our liberty is for the people to understand that every ounce of freedom we enjoy in America comes from God, not government. We must not suppress the Truth in unrighteousness.

As we celebrate the 249th year of Independence in America, let us learn a lesson from Founder, John Adams, who believed the celebration should be with parades and fire works but also with “solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.” He quoted Psalm 33:12 Blessed is that nation whose God is the Lord.

When God is Lord, He will……..turn the tide

Thank God for America,      Doreen
