Apostles Doctrine

Acts 2:42 And they continued steadfastly in the Apostles Doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and it prayers.

The Church was born on the Day of Pentecost and the Bible tells us that they grew in number daily as the people heard the Message of the Cross of Christ and gave their hearts to the Lord.

In Verse 42 of the 2nd Chapter of Acts we read: And they continued steadfastly in the Apostles Doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and it prayers. The Church grew in number on a daily basis as they continued in the Apostles Doctrine. If that was the case then, it is still the case today. What is the Apostles Doctrine?

Peter’s words were inspired by the Holy Spirit. Everything about the Early Church was inspired by the Holy Spirit. The foundation of the Apostles Doctrine is Repentance and should continue to be today.

Repentance is not something you do once and then go on about your life. As believers, we are called to live a repentant life. That is, a lifestyle of repentance as we lay our lives down at the Feet of Jesus as our Savior and Lord on a daily basis.

We have a sin nature. We are prone to sin. Jesus went to the Cross to break the power of Sin in our lives. The sin nature is still there but when we place our faith in the Finished Work of Christ on the Cross of Calvary, sin no longer has dominion over us. We are not controlled by sin. Yes, we will sin but when we do, we can quickly take it to the Lord in the spirit of repentance, and we will be forgiven. John the Beloved said it like this: If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us. (1 John 1:8-10)

People are quick to memorize and repeat Verse 9 of the Scripture above, but Verses 8 and 10 are often omitted. 1 John 1:8-10 is actually a single thought. We cannot pick one phrase or sentence out of the center and disregard the rest.

The foundation of the Apostles Doctrine is Repentance. Without Repentance, there is no Salvation. Without Repentance there is nothing. Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand. (Matthew 3:2)

Repentance will….….turn the tide ……….in your life.

Forgive me Lord,         Doreen
