Approved To God

2 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.

How blessed young Timothy was to sit under the teaching of the great Apostle Paul. Paul explained to Timothy that all work is to be inspected for approval. Just as building inspectors sign off on a project that the work is complete and well done, we are to present ourselves for approval to God.

Everyone seeks approval, but most people seek the approval of man instead of the approval of God. While man’s approval is gratifying, it is God’s approval we should long for and will seek in the end. Paul wrote to Timothy some most empowering words. In Verses 11-13, he said, For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him. If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.

In the very next verse, Paul said, Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers.

We can listen to fancy talking preachers all day long, but are their words without profit?  Any words that do not lead to Salvation, Healing, Deliverance, or sound Biblical Doctrine are without profit. In the end, they profit you nothing. They are wasted words and wasted breath and will result in the ruin of the hearers.

The Greek word for “rightly dividing” is orthotomeo.  It means to hold a straight course; generally, to make straight, to handle rightly. We are not to manipulate the Word to mean what we want it to mean. Rather, we are to line up our lives with the true meaning God intended through His Word. This is to “rightly divide” the Word of God.

Rightly divided, the Word of God will……..turn the tide
